Shaina Maitra

Clinical Research Coordinator

Shaina Maitra serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator at the Penn FTD Center. She obtained her B.S. in Neuroscience with a minor in Health Studies from Haverford College in 2026 and is currently pursuing her Master of Bioethics at the Perelman School of Medicine. As an undergrad, she interned at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia where she investigated the neurodegenerative effects of viral infection on the neuro-olfactory axis. She studied biomarkers relevant to both AD and PD and conducted her senior thesis investigating AD tau signatures in post-influenza infected mice. Post-grad, she is interested in investigating human biomarkers of neurodegenerative disease to facilitate early diagnosis and treatment. Outside of neuroscience, Shaina enjoys dance, watching sports, and sunsets at the Schuylkill River.
