The annual Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) brings together researchers, clinicians, and dementia professionals across multiple disciplines for a week of presentations, workshops and networking. This conference brings together professionals studying Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias such as frontotemporal degeneration (FTD), and is a wonderful opportunity to share advances and collaborate on accelerating impactful new findings in the field of dementia research. Throughout the years, Penn FTD Center staff have attended and presented at AAIC. In 2024, more than 10 Penn FTD Center researchers and staff presented their findings to over 8,000 attendees on a wide variety of topics including genetic, neuroimaging and neuropathological associations with neurodegenerative diseases.

This July, Penn FTD Center researchers and clinicians will be heading to Toronto, Canada to meet with colleagues and scientists to discuss breakthroughs and best practices at AAIC. Our team will be present throughout the conference, discussing topics ranging from social and structural determinants of health (such as air pollution), to multi-omic approaches integrating genetics, gene expression and epigenetic data, to neuroimaging and neuropathological findings, and how these relate to Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease related dementias.

In an effort to make this wealth of information more accessible, the Alzheimer’s Association created AAIC For All: Community. This is a no-cost extension of AAIC open to all interested members of the public, including people living with Alzheimer's or another dementia, family members, caregivers and the general public. You can attend AAIC for All live in Toronto, Canada or virtually, or watch the recording. If you’re interested in AAIC For All, July 31 (8am-12pm) Eastern time), register here
