Get to know the Penn FTD Center staff! Learn more this month from Penn FTD Center Clinical Research Coordinator Cayla Andrews in the responses below!

What is your role at the Penn FTD Center and how long have you been working at the center?
I am a clinical research coordinator within the ALLFTD and UNICORN observational studies. I've been working in this role since February 2025. My role allows me to schedule research visits, guide families through their research day, and collect data for the research.
How do you hope to use this work in future opportunities?
I hope to carry the focus and passion I’ve developed in this role into future opportunities in clinical research. As someone from a family that is affected by both FTD and Alzheimer’s, my personal connection drives me to contribute meaningfully to studies that improve understanding and treatment. I aim to use this experience to advocate for patients and families, ensuring that research stays human-centered. As my career grows, I want to lead with empathy while continuing to advance science.
What is your favorite thing to do in Philly?
My favorite thing in Philly is water ice, specifically a gelati from John's in South Philly. There are lots of great foods and treats around the city. When I'm not being a foodie, I am going on long walks to explore the city. I love going to the Museum of Art or hanging out in Rittenhouse Square Park.
